Tbilisi, a hidden gem.

There is no way to fully introduce the beautiful city of Tbilisi without spending a little time highlighting some of its most notable features.

Situated on the eastern shore of the Black Sea, Tbilisi is a bustling metropolis with a rich history and culture. The city has been home to numerous important historical figures, including the founder of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Saint Nino, and the writer and Nobel Prize laureate, William Faulkner. In addition to its historic landmarks, Tbilisi is home to a variety of exciting contemporary attractions, including the lively pedestrian district of Rustaveli, the impressive Stalin Memorial Museum, and the lively district of Marjanishvili all located within the beautiful city of Tbilisi.

The weather, the food and of course the culture complement eachother as the threads of a well knit tapestry.

Traveling to Tbilisi.

As a south asian hailing from UAE, the visa process of Tbilisi is really simple i,e; any traveller with a residency visa of any GCC country is offered a 90 day visa on arrival at the Tbilisi airport.

The flights from the UAE to Tbilisi are approximately 3-4 hours long (depending on the emirate) and don’t break the bank, the air traveller is surprisingly not tiring, whether you are a student with long term staying plans or a tourist coming to Tbilisi to enjoy its beauty one can have plans right after the flight lands too, speaking of plans, what are some of the must visit places in Tbilisi?

Top 2 MUST VISIT places in Tbilisi.

  1. The Bridge of Peace in Tbilisi is an architectural marvel located close to the Old Tbilisi and a few minutes walk from Liberty Metro station, it is a bow-shaped pedestrian bridge studded with LED that add an extra touch of glam to the Bridge of Peace, it spans from Rike park to the Old Town over the Kura River where one will certainly see the locals fishing.
  2. Narikala fortress is an ancient structure and a symbol of defense present a few meters from the Bridge of Peace. The best way to get to it is by using the cable-car from rike park to the top of the mountain which costs 2.5 lari, I would highly recommend it as one gets to see the old buildings of Tbilisi on one side and the modern skyscrapers on the other.
